Terracotta Community Development
Terracotta Cluster Development Activities at Asharikandi, Dhubri:
ENVIRON have been entrusted by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship for carrying out soft intervention of cluster development activities in Terracotta at Asharikandi, Dhubri, sponsored by Development Commissioner Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India. The activities were started from 13th July, 2012.
Asharikandi is located 14km from Dhubri, 3km from Gauripur and 1km from NH-31. It falls under the Debitola Block of Dhubri District. Asharikandi cluster presently covers the area namely Madaikhali Pt. I, Pt. II, Pt. III, Pt. IV; Paulpara; Bogurapara; Chikasipara and Baganpara.
At the present scenario the Terracotta craft is practiced mainly in the Madaikhali Village. In the village there are all total 373 nos. of Artisans are there which includes SC and OBC community along with some business persons. There are all total 138 nos. of households in the cluster who are involved in Terracotta and Pottery activity.
